They are keeping the triple lock so apparently the pensioners will be well looked after. Is that right! Lets not forget that we have a two tier pension scheme so those who have retired prior to 2016 will not get the full amount - and that means most of us. And taking that a stage further, many pensioners who have retired before 2016 have not qualified for the full basic pension, so they will get even less. Next, lets take the pensioners who have continued to work to make theilr pensions go a little further. They will find that their pensions, which they are told is tax free, will be lumped in with their earnings which means that these pensioners will pay tax virtually as soon as they start to earn. I don't mind paying my contribution, but I wish the main stream media would stop spouting that pensioners will be receiving a rise of 8.5% thanks to the triple lock when clearly only a few pensioners will get the full amount.
