Dinner tonight

Postby tonicha » 18 Apr 2015, 19:38

Was slightly different ;)

Steamed some potatoes, left them to get cold, then sliced them and fried them in sesame oil, along with red pepper and onion. Added local sea salt and parsley, just before dishing up.

In a small dish, lobbed in shredded lettuce, grated carrot, 2 sliced boiled eggs, half a tin of (rinsed) black beans, a handful of cherry tomatoes, chopped up, drained tin of tuna in brine and poured a mixture of olive oil and white wine vinegar over the top.

A variation of Nizette's tuna salad.

Chinese takeaway from Waitrose :D

It was very nice but a meal bag 'for 2' fed 3 of us easily and we threw away some of the rice - I tell you, no wonder people are fat if they think that's a reasonable amount of food for two adults ;)
6 x starter bits
Sweet & sour chicken
Beef in black bean sauce
Chicken chow mein
Egg fried rice

908 calories per half pack...rant over :D

Same with Asda Di.

They were doing single portions of curry at three for £7. By the time I had done some rice and heated a Peshwari naan I got two good meals from one portion. :o

My only complaint was that the Dopiaza tasted the same as the Jalfrezi and that tasted the same as the Vindaloo.

Yes, Saundra, that really is not on. There are far too many things in packaging made to look as though you are getting more than you actually are.

We had a tasty dinner - one of those nice little pieces of ham that you can get in Lidl, cooked in the pressure cooker (first time using it in this house), a winter veg mash which was a mixture of parsnips, carrots and butternut squash, and some little green beans, cooked for a couple of minutes, then seasoned and tossed in Flora. It was lovely, and what was left over will be very nice tomorrow in a pasta sauce with asparagus.

Osc Lidl's pieces of ham are lovely aren't they and such good value :)

Saundra why don't you just buy chicken breasts, they cook in more or less the same time and you can cook two at once and have the second one cold for dinner or in sandwiches :) x

My Dopiaza is oniony and tastes nothing like my tomatoey Jalfrezi; and neither have anything like the 'blow yer brains out' heat of a proper Vindaloo! ;)
