You pick your house, pay and agreed deposit, sign the promissary contract and agree on a moving date.
On that date, the final contract is signed, in front of a notary, the keys are handed over when the money is and bob's yer uncle.
We happen to know that their extension is possibly not "legal" and if that is the case, the notary will not allow the sale to go through. All houses have to have a habitation licence and number and extensions have to be done by a legal builder (Grumpy couldn't build over here) and various forms filled in and stamped
