Afternoon all - we're roasting here! Poor Billy's lying flat on his back, legs akimbo, near to the fan. I haven't the heart to move it nearer to me
I went to the gym first thing, then into town because I really, really, really needed new nail polish
Then it was the 2 mile uphill walk home, I could've gone through the shady, cool woods but that would've meant walking 15 minutes across town in the other direction - by which time I'd be half way home via the road way - so I decided on the direct route. It was horrible.
I phoned school from the gym this morning and spoke to Joe's house manager to see if sports day was still going ahead. It was but she said that she'd had quite a few calls from parents calling in sick for their children. I feel really guilty about sending him. He's taken four bottles of water - two frozen solid - and if what he's brought home the last few days are anything to go by, anything remaining in the bottles will be warm enough to make a nice cuppa when he gets home. I told her how concerned I was, not just for Joe but for everyone who's having to spend all day there in this heat, she said I'm not the only one to have voiced my concerns. I looked at the stadium online and there's a small covered grandstand - certainly not big enough for the amount of pupils going - and the rest of the place is unsheltered open grassland. I think the only reason they haven't cancelled is because they'll have hired 20+ coaches to get everyone there and have also hired the stadium itself.
Osc, that dress is lovely!!
