after all the rain fall that we had earlier this year they dare not impose a hosepipe ban
But in all seriousness Victor; I either heard or read somewhere (but don't know how accurate it is) that because of the huge amounts of rain nearly all of the UK had at the beginning of the year that all reservoirs are full; the water table is as high as can be and that if people are sensible and don't go totally overboard with their water usage that we shouldn't need a hosepipe ban for either this summer or next if it's another warm one.
As for the tracks melting - we thankfully haven't had that excuse yet this year, but I suspect the trains may be struggling with the heat because at the moment South West Trainis has countless trains out of service due to train faults
- always resulting in either a shorter train or even worse no train
