It's just the way it is here Kaz.

We had Dirk, who is so laid back, he's almost horizontal   and now we have Carla who is much more pushy, but at least bring the bods in.

Speaking a a neighbour the other day, he said that there are just so many properties on the market at the moment, in our village, as it's the "place to be" But all they're doing is putting themselves into debt, by paying over the odds for thos front line properties - and we know the buildings over here - give 'em a couple year and they'll be trying all sorts to get rid of mould etc.

it's just a different market - much more pushy, believe it or not ;) - and we only have 5 more months.

Then I'll be chosing 3 or 4 different agents and we'll be with all of them, at the same time.

Another "friend" suggested we go with some company he knows, whereby we pay 7% commission :o   and the comp+any will "guarantee" to bring 2 buyers a month.

Yeah,. right, just means you're paying for their flight, their hotel bill, their car hire

I don't get all the shenanigans.

If what I was going to buy was less than my asking price for the property I owned I think that I would go with it.

If I really, really, really wanted to move, as you seem to do Ton, then I would take loss or gain on my original €/£ rate and move.

And then how would I be able to put a pool in? build an extension?

or if I was really lucky, just buy a house that had everything?? I cannot find a house for 165,000€ to match what I'd like. 225,000, yes, 250,000, of course.

But we're now having to look at houses of 125,000.

Sorry Frank, different market over here - this is holiday land.

When bought 12 years ago, we honestly thought we'd make a little on the house in those years, not lose 40,000. In today's figures, not thinking about how much it went up, down etc.

And as we "sold" last year for far more than the offers are coming in now, then no, I'll stay here.

No worries.

I get a bit lost with it all Ton. If properties are going for way over the odds, why is Carla pushing you to accept way under the odds? It's different all right :?

I just want you to be able to sell and move, as it's what you want so much, so I'll carry on crossing my fingers for you!! XX

You've written what I was thinking. :?

It's a bummer of a time for you Ton...but like you say, you want to move but it's not the end of the world if you don't. xx

Sorry, I was rambling a little.

What I was trying to say is that we are now priced at 185,000. Our first offer was for 150,000 and there is not a way in the world that we would accept that, just because we want to move.

I think, well I know, what Carla wants is rapid turnover for "her" properties, so that she can make money, of course. As Remax is a franchise, the more properties she sells, the amount she has to pay stays the same, but she makes more money.

The houses around us are prepared to drop 20,000, 30,000 even 40,000 to make a sale. We have already dropped that amount and will not drop any more.
