Emma's mum's house

Postby Kaz » 16 Nov 2024, 17:17

So my friend Em, who lost her mum last October, has finally got to the stage where mum's house can be sold. Lots of hassle with her awful brother, which is a looong story, but anyway here it is. Went on on Thursday, sold yesterday! It is a lovely house, but wow that was quick!

Houses near where I live also sem tobe sold quickly.

Or at least the "SOLD" sign goes up. But thereis one in the Crescent where I live. The lady died at the beginning of the year and no "FOR SALE" sign hs been
displayed. There may be problems with probate as I understand a nephew is awkward.

The issues around inheritance certainly seem to bring out the worst in some, Cruiser!

That’s a lovely house! I’m not surprised it sold so quickly.

The first time buyers purchasing John’s Mom’s house are hoping to complete before Christmas then his sister can buy a camper van that her husband was eyeing up a few days before their mother died

The sale fell through, but there's lots of interest in it so I'm sure it will sell again.

Should have a similar system as here.

You put down about 10% or whatever is agreed and sign an official promissory contract. You pull out? Then you pay double that amount to the seller.

So most things go through.

Yes, our system is ridiculous.

Wonderful, really hope it works out this time.

And yes, our system is ridiculous.
Barring any major issues with surveys, once an offer is made and accepted then that should be binding. You hear of people threatening to pull out several months down the line, just before contracts are exchanged, unless the seller accepts a reduced offer from them.
