Personally I don't like facial hair either (although in the case of a certain Leiv Schreiber I am prepared to tolerate a little stubble ..... ) and I find those very full beards which are currently in vogue to be unattractive.

Personally I'm not fond of facial hair at all

An ex colleague of mine has one of these very full beards - as does his partner; and no they don't look particularly good. A nice short trimmed beard is just about OK; but moustaches I can't handle at all.

Thank goodness we're all different, right?

I know I know I know it's not PC - but the first thing that jumped into my head was...poor girl!

I love a neatly trimmed beard....my lovely brother had a goatee over the summer months and grew a moustache for Movember, he so suited them! When I got married, my then husband had a full beard, he was dark haired too so it was quite a specimen, although not in the league of some today. I don't like them to be thick and long, especially if the guy is thinning on top, or even bald, but beards per se are great!

I too have both beard and moustache, I used to shave my chin and have a moustache in the army but while serving I was sent abroad and developed a terrible rash caused by shaving and for the last year of my service I think I was the only soldier in the army with a beard, I was 21 then and have never shaved since and have had a beard and tash ever since.

I am now 67 and unlikely to start shaving again now.

Personally I think any man has the right to wear facial hair or not I don't see how it makes him any different to a clean shaven man, I know I am the same person with or without, to me this smacks of judging a book by its cover not by its content.

Many con men and confidence tricksters are clean shaven and wear smart suits, all part of the image??

Well put Manxie, I do resent any kind of mass discrimination - some men suit beards/moustaches, others don't, simple as that.

As for those big beards grown for some kind of - what? - solidarity? - passing fad probably (different to not shaving on religious grounds, though that's an odd religious thing to me). After all, men have far fewer opportunities for fashion/fad/trends than women do.
