Collected our so-called repaired kettle this afternoon.

By looking at it - they'd done nowt.

Plugged it in, left some water in it - two hours later, same problem.

Guess where we're going tomorrow :x :x :x :x :x :x

We take them back if it's within the year's guarantee but it's very rare that anything like that is repaired, it's usually just an easy replacement.

Our kettle broke this time last year, it was a £60 Delonghi one but was about 3 years old so we just bought another. Wouldn't have another Delonghi though. That one was a replacement of a replacement and at 3 years old, lasted much longer than it's predecessors!

I've just checked the receipt - it was 8 months old.

And I would hav preferred a replacement, but the young lady said they'd fixed the problem. Which we couldn't see how, without replacing it - so back we go.

The best thing is, I can go to Lidl's which is next door and get a load of their cheapo chicken breast and the most scrummy wine     at 1.69 a bottle. 2011 and a doc 8-)

What a bargain Ton! :D

I think here, unless something is quite an expensive item, retailers seem to think that it's more cost-effective to simply scrap and replace a faulty electrical item rather than to send it back to the manufacturer to be fixed.

Saying that though, our 13 month old £750 TV had to go back to the manufacturer last year and they didn't bother repairing it, they couldn't as the part they needed was already obsolete after that short space of time  so we had to have a full refund!
