They do!
Take today for instance. Si posted on Facebook just after 6am saying that he was off to London for a meeting and that his wife was also up and ready to go as she had to travel somewhere for work today too so they both had early starts. He was just getting back when I was walking back with Billy just before 5pm and he was the first home :?

I know, I dread to think how many accidents they have in the house :?

It seems to be quite a common problem by us though. Two doors away have three dogs - two tiny fluffy Pomeranians and a Springer Spaniel. The little ones don't need much exercise but the Springer does yet she's locked in the house from 8.30 until 4 while they're all out. I was talking to a lady the other day who was walking a gorgeous 16 week old King Charles Spaniel. She said it was her daughters but she comes to walk it midway through the day if she can on her day off as her daughter and husband both work 9-5 :?

We never left our Prince alone for longer than about four hours.

That's about the longest Billy's ever been left too Aggers. The people across the road are out all day too, getting home around 6 or 7pm, and their Labrador is left in the conservatory all day. They have a professional dog walking firm come and take him for a walk each morning. Even so, it's not a nice life is it when he's stuck on his own for a good part of the day :?

Same here Aggers!!

Usually if we go out for the day then D takes the dogs for us, at her house. When we went to my uncle's funeral last month we had to leave them here as D had several lots of workmen due to call at hers - phone people and hedge/tree cutters - so couldn't cope with them there, but she called round twice to let them into the garden for us. I still felt bad about it for them - so I don't understand how people can leave their dogs all day, every day, like that. As Di said, why have them in the first place?

We wouldn't have had our two if Mick worked in an office, as it is they have company all day even when I go out shopping!

People who are out at work all day should get cats instead, as they don't mind!
