:lol: No, they are for display - honest! We do it every year and add some acorns and hazelnuts if we can. They make a lovely "autumn display". Then at Christmas time, on the other side of the hearth, we have a bowl of scented fir-cones ...

Mrs O has been experimenting. She has coated half a dozen in L'Oreal Elvive hair-spray to see if they will retain their shiny-ness. First signs are quite encouraging. And forget my earlier estimate of 30, it seems we picked up just over 60 .... :D

For disbelievers I can confirm that bowls of horse chestnuts placed around the house keeps away daddy longlegs and spiders. They look good too.

We went conkering on Tuesday, we do it every year. Sadly this year I had to sit in my wheelchair while poor M had to pick them up! We also pu them in bowls around the house to deter the blankety blank spiders. They were falling off the tree as I sat there, I love taking them out of their spikey overcoats!
