Finally

Now the press has come to understand that Scots are willing to really do the deed and break with GB, a small ray of light creeps into the press reporting of the race.

It will not just be Scotland who feels the pain of independence. England and the English pound are in for their fair share of pummelling, come the day a Yes vote wins.

I hope they don't think that will win any No votes in Scotland. A lot of glee in certain camps maybe, some head shaking in others, but, if anything, more likely to run to the Yes vote.

Now here's a wonderful point they carefully didn't make in the article. If Scotland is rUK's second biggest trading partner, after the US, then the balance of trade between the EU and non EU countries is going to change radically. Like, perhaps, 40:60 or worse. Worse again, if the EU don't allow Scotland in, then England has to levy damaging tariffs between England and Scotland. England will get the worst of that deal as it would be limited in deals with the rest of the world which Scotland would not.

Oh the cracks which are going to appear in the carefully papered over walls are going to be massive in the next 10 days. It's not just Salmond who is playing fast and loose here. And it's going to show.

And if rUK votes to leave the EU, Suff?

Quite possible. Then they join the world of making it without the EU and trade falls rapidly away from the EU and into other non EU markets.

Erm, no thanks, my take is I need a modest sum in the bank and more property without any mortgage. Enough to pay the taxes and live. Nobody is going to be winning on the markets or on currencies in the short term if it all starts to unravel...
