Oh dear me

Postby KateLMead » 22 Aug 2014, 07:06

Yesterday I arrived home with two massive carvings from Uganda but where can I hang them?
My house is full of bric-à-brac From countries far and wide where we have lived and worked.. I also bought an amazing painting some time ago that I could not find a space for in any of my rooms , I have every wall covered in mine and others paintings, portraits of every member of my family, country scenes etc etc etc. artefacts cover shelves. A nightmare, my youngest says, inspite of guests politely stating its a house of interest. "And I think it is ". However I have to start sorting the place out. Muddly house, Muddly mind I suppose.
I've been threatened by offspring with them getting me on TV Hoarders. I was told by a close friend a psychologist that my hoarding is a sign of insecurity. Will have to go through the pain of sorting it out (sometime)

:) Kate, when it stops you moving through the house and or is filthy then it is an illness - until then it is just 'comfortable clutter' ;)

I would love a clutter free home, and do aim for it, but live with two very untidy people, and two dogs!!  ;) xxxxxxxxxxxx

Kate,

I don't think we are as bad as you. We are trying to de-clutter. At the last count we had about 90--yes ninety good drinking glasses of different sizes. This included several Waterford Glass. Have also got a German wall clock with Westminster chimes valued at over £500. Also have some Lladro which nobody seems to want.

The terrible thing is Aggers that I know I have to get it sorted, guests and friends find it fascinating, I dare not take
Anyone down to the garage or office..more stuff has to go to charity shops including clothes etc.
I do give a lot away just need to give a lot more.
