Hate to say I told you so.

So the elderly are being asked whether they wish to be exterminated, they are not asking them when they are ill, and not by any individuals they know, but by nurses on home visits. This question being put to the elderly will create fear for the majority of them I am sure, and an open door to clear beds quickly get more death taxes.
In my opinion, to put this question to the vulnerable is a disgrace. Particularly when the elderly are asked to sign their
Own death warrant.

You certainly did tell us, Kate, and well done for telling us again.

It is being reported by The Telegraph

It is not that the question is being asked that bothers me, I would want the choice TBH, but the "When?", "How?" and "Why?". That such a question could be asked on a first visit is quite shocking, but it could also be asked of someone who is not fit enough to give a considered response.

The safeguards, which seem to be nothing more than that a nurse acts appropriately, are meaningless.

As with many things the way it is reported in the papers can differ widely. One paper said that people had been asked "Do you want us to let you die?" whereas the Telegraph reports they have been asked if they want to be resuscitated.

If anyone asked me either of those versions I think they would be backing off with singed ears.

The flip side of that however, is that some people DO want DNR, my MIL who nursed the dying for many years is one of them. She prays for a quick death, not a wasting one...... I think both viewpoints need to be respected xxxxxx

Personally I would hate to be a vegetable dependant on others, for example after a massive stroke or if I had a disease such as Motor Neurone :( I know what I am like and the idea of either Mick or Becks having to wash me, feed me, wipe my backside etc distresses me far more than the idea of death does!

Yes that's certainly a point to consider.

Not for me! I was born naturally. And I will die the same way. To be asked such a question when one is unwell but not feeble is disgraceful. Those who wish to be exterminated should be given the appropriate paperwork to sign and considered in their own time. It is known that bladder infections in the elderly can cause confusion, they would be ripe for some home visitor who has arrived asking this diabolical question and who in their confused state would with a little persuasion agree..

I would rather be asked so people know my wishes than to leave the decision up to someone else.

As long as they don't set the nurses performance targets in this regard!

Kate I sincerely hope you're never in the kind of unbearable pain and discomfort that can happen, but I also hope you would realise it's ok to change your mind - if, of course, at that point you are able to communicate.
And if you can't, well, you'd best prime your relatives to understand that however upsetting for them - it's what you want :?

Should I become that way Di, then I would wish to give my own instructions at that time, not be pressurised by some stranger in signing my death warrant. Damned disgraceful.
