Because the Arab Moslem world tried to destroy them by force of arms more than once and are still smarting from their defeats...

I do recall, in my meandering readings, that the American CIOA posted public photographs of satellite radar imagery of the North African underground aquifers. It was not about nature or "being nice". It was to tell the Russians/USSR, that they could see every nuclear silo in the USSR from their satellites and spy planes.

Which is how Israel knows about the Hamas tunnels. which is why they are bombarding what they are. No doubt these tunnels lead to the Hamas leaders homes and to Schools and Colleges and Hospitals. Typical Hamas operation.

Does the west report the Truth? I have seen one and only one article reporting the PTSD suffered by thousands of Israeli children from the thousands of rocket propelled bombs fired at them. It is only the west which is stopping Israel from invading all the Palestinian areas and putting them under martial law. As they once did with Beirut in 82. But in this case they would be controlling local soil.

I have long since given up on any balanced reporting of the Palestinian Israeli conflict. I have been doing some reading though about the history of these conflicts.

1948 war
Causes of the exodus
Six Day War
Yom Kippur war

The only constant that I can see in this is broken promises, broken cease fire, terrorist attacks on civilians, military attacks on civilians, mainly and mostly perpetrated by the Arab world on the Israeli's. Most of the Israeli response has been against military targets, although not all.

Given the history and the atrocities, the pro Arab bias in the UK press and media is not encouraging.

Over 1,500 Palestinians killed including little children. A United Nations school has been attacked this morning, is Israel's attacks with such powerful weapons justified.? Not in my opinion.
I can understand how the Israel 's people feel but there must be another way, Any radical organisation like Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood, And any other radicals whatever country they are in are a threat as we have seen from the numbers of British? Muslims who have gone to join these organisations to fight. I
Cannot believe they can come and go without some form of control being even more radicalised justified or not when they return.. However I cannot stand to see the suffering of the Palestinians Syrians young children, dead and dying as I cannot stand to see the suffering in Iraq where I worked when my husband was under contract there.
By the way interesting to see that "Peace Envoy" Tony B'Liar having a ball celebrating his wife's birthday bash at an estimated cost of £50,000 plus, as this horror continues in Gaza Iraq and elsewhere..
Whatever the man touches turns rotten. I thought at the time that it was the kiss of death in Libya when he embraced Gaddafi. Look at the country now....

The news out of Gaza has been appalling Kate, I so agree :(

Whatever the political background - and unravelling the background of Palestine is like trying to unravel wet spaghetti - watching the bombing of innocent children and women is horrendous. It just needs to stop!

Heartbreaking Kaz, I truly wept when I saw the latest news on Al Jazeera this morning.

And we killed 100,000 Iraqi men women and children along with the Americans. And the Iraqi's had done what to us?

Note that all these children have been injured or killed because their parents kept them in a war zone. A war zone they were notified was going to be bombarded.

What kind of parents are these. I'm sickened. Yes, by the actions of those parents. Even in WWII we moved our children out into the country to protect them from being bombed in cities.

And it goes on. Hamas refuses to even talk about a cease fire until they get what THEY want. So they continue to inflame the situation, use the tunnels to pour more rockets into Israel, attack Israeli troops from them. Giving the IDF the support at home to sort this situation out.

Whilst the western press runs around everywhere searching for killed and injured children so they can present it on TV 24 hours a day. Repeats not an issue.....

What is the situation. Hamas stated goal is the destruction of the state of Israel. They have never removed it from their charter. They will never stop murdering Israelis whilst the state of Israel survives. You might as well talk to the 7/7 bombers for all the good talking to Hamas will do.

There is a solution. Deport the lot and never let them back. Not palatable is it.

I don't think there is any "right" or "wrong" side in the Israeli / Arab problem. The Israelis steal Palestinian land, organisations like Hamas and Hezbollah want to erase Israel and all Israelis from the earth. Atm you can't sort it out because it's not sort-outable.
The BBC coverage is heavily weighted in favour of the Palestinians. I'm sure some ugly adults have been killed or wounded but the only casualties you see on the Beeb are cute innocent children.

4,000 residences had to leave their homes for shelters in the central Gaza Strip

Nowhere to go?? They've dug tunnels all over the place. Yet they also have shelters. Israel is not and will never bomb the shelters. Even if a tunnel leads there.

The unpolished, un spun, unvarnished truth. Nothing more. Something we are not seeing in the media.

Cromwell, Lyse Douchet did a piece on the BBC website (about 6,000 words, I did a word count). What it contained was mainly about the suffering of the Gazans. It did, however, contain one sentence of note, to whit: UNWRA had discovered Hamas rockets hidden in one of its schools.... for the third time since the recent conflict began.

But, the UN is incandescent with rage that the Israelis had the audacity to target it!

The article is still there, but has been modified. The pertinent (oops, forbidden) sentence has been removed.

The BBC is only interested in one side of the story, as I hinted to in an earlier post, we have to look elsewhere for the truth.
