Morning all - a lovely hot day here as well. I'm leaving work at 5 today to meet up with a friend for dinner; a lovely Turkish restaurant near Liverpool Street Station - yum!!!!

Good luck with the various hospital appointments.

Jen, I also react quite badly to bites, esp if it's from the little midges - same as you they swell up, go hard and red and very hot to the touch and VERY itchy. It takes about 2 weeks for it all to go away. Horrid creatures they are Hopefully the cortisone cream will help you because it really isn't pleasant.

Morning all. Gorgeous out there but sadly I am stuck in the office.

I had to come in for a few extra hours this morning to finish the business plan off. It has to be done by tomorrow and I meant to finish it yesterday but was too busy faffing about doing nothing. It is pretty much finished now so am having a coffee break before I sit and proof read it.

Hair cut this afternoon and typically my hair looks fab this morning! I was going to get it cut into a bob again but now I'm not too sure!

Another scorcher here. Poor old Prince isn't too happy about it, and Mrs A would like it much cooler.
I've just had a good dog walk in the park, before it gets too hot, now I'm off to the Doctors for my
anti-coagulation test.

its hot here pity the people on the beach there is a strongewind of the sea but you can get burnt so easy without being aware of it

Good afternoon all. I've abandoned the gym this week - it's far too hot in there - so Billy's been treated to very early, very long walks. We've been out before 7am each day and it's been lovely, it's still flippin' warm at that time though. He's not enjoying the heat at all, he can mostly be found lying on the tiles in the kitchen. John's not been able to join us for his night time walks, which I've been leaving until late too, because his shoulder hurts when he walks so I've been a big brave girl and walked him over the common by myself. I have to keep an eye on the time though because we walk and walk and I suddenly realise that the sun is about to fully set and we'd better get home before it gets dark
I think I can be pretty confident that Billy would protect me if needs be though. He and I were walking back the other night and walked past a gang of teenagers and one of them asked what his name was so he called him over by his name and Billy ran around the edge of them, growling, and then stood a few yards away looking very alert, barking at them. So strange because he's never reacted like that before, he must've sensed something he didn't like. He usually wants to be everyone's friend. Don't forget that this is the dog who was jumping for joy when a strange man walked into our back garden (not strange to me, a work colleague of John's who was dropping something off) - Bill was alone in the kitchen when Gordon walked through the gate and I went in to see what the commotion was, I could hear chairs scraping across the floor as he knocked them in his excitement

Shopping tonight. I've been over to McColls for a couple of Daily Mirrors as the Aldi £5 off vouchers are in today and I can use one this week and one next. Had a bargain with the papers too - the assistant signed me up for a McColls loyalty card and instead of the papers costing £1.10 they cost a total of 60p

Saundra they jolly well should be aware, there's no excuse, and they should be wearing high factor sunscreen anyway. We used to see them all the time, being opposite the beach.
They'd go down in the morning and not come back till 5 or 6 o'clock, burnt bright red - and go again the next day!

Jo good for Billy! My first dog was the gentlest imaginable but she too would protect me.
I'm just washing Minnie's towel so I can put it on the kitchen floor for her to lie on while it's all wet, poor thing has always hated the heat.
Wet towels are a great idea in theory but a dog Minnie's size needs a big beach towel and they're too heavy for me to get wet and wring by hand.

Bb signed for one of those cards on Saturday - we only buy a Saturday paper and we got it for free

Minnie wasn't the slightest bit impressed with the towel lol, she's used to getting on it when told, so she did, but put her head down to be rubbed as usual, then got off 'cos she was dry

I was laughing at Billy the other day. He had a rash on his leg last Autumn and the vet prescribed a steroid cream which would clear it only for it to return a few days later. I tried the smallest dab of Sudocrem rather than pay out for expensive cream from the vet when the first tube had gone and it cleared within a day or two and hasn't come back since.
Anyway, I had a blister on my heel which has more or less gone but is a little dry so I'd been putting a bit of Bepanthem cream on it but forgot the other day and couldn't be bothered to go up two flights of stairs to the bathroom for it so reached into the cupboard for Billy's Sudocrem. Just as I was taking the lid off he walked around the door, took one look at me with the cream in my hand and promptly lay on his back and stuck his leg, the one which had had the "boo boo" on it, up in the air

Minnie still has half a steroid tablet every other day.
Wherever she is, 'tablet Min' has her come straight to the kitchen, sit on the mat and open her mouth

She does know a lot of words though, when she's been in the water you can tell her when to shake - so as well as being able to target people, when we get back she'll shake before coming indoors
Most things you just have to tell her and she does it.
