That would be a faff Jo, the Tesco one was easy, just pour the money in and out pops a shopping voucher to use at the till - I 'think' the Sainsburys one is the same but not sure as I haven't used it.
Can't remember how much the commission was, but remember thinking it was less than I expected :)
Bb says he thinks it was just the one voucher, for the whole amount.

We used to do it in bags and change it at the bank, but that was when Bb was going all the time to bank cash anyway.
I can't carry those kind of weights and he never remembered, that's why I gave up and did it this way :)

Oh yes we also have a jar that we save coins in, mind it's T that saves those, I spend 'em ;) We normally bag it up and take it to the bank, I'm not fond of those machines, I think they take too much commission and I don't necessarily want to spend the money I get back (cash) in that shop anyway :| I think we must have about £200 in our jar atm :)

I used to find with the machine in Asda that it'd stop accepting coins after a while and spit them out so we never actually managed to change everything that we'd taken. I thought it was faulty the first time we used it but it happened each time after that.

When we were working we used to save copper coins in one of the large empty whisky bottles. But it became a pain counting it , putting into the plastic money bags you can get from the banks and then carrying it.
I don't know whta the weight of £40.00 coins but we decided stop doing it and put money into a building society account each month.
We now have two, one we call our holiday club and the other our Christmas club.
Get 350.00 out of our bank when cash is getting less than 310.00. So never have a lot of cash in the house.

I have an enormous piggy in which I place all my coppers and 5p pieces. I love keeping it until twice a year for when the grandchildren visit on their birthdays and at Christmas time. ( they visit of course more than twice a year!) And excitedly sit at the table counting it out sharing it between them. It keeps them quiet ;)

İn the good old days when İ had money used to hide it in books of which there were many (after a few glasses of the old vino collapso).

Was always a great surprise months, years later :!:

When my Grandma died we found thousands of pounds in white five pound notes in an ottoman and about 30 lb sugar in the wardrobe, and when my Aunt Rose died there was 35,000 pound stashed around the house :!: :!:

I'm sure I've put money in books, to hide it - and then given them to charity shops

Have just seen on the news that some early settlers hid their money.
Some ancient coins have been found in a cave in the Peak District. Did they fall out of your jar?
