Last year I paid about £17 for my ticket. This year I have paid £22.70.

It is just over 60 miles from my house to Birmingham New Street by car so will be shorter by train.

I assume that the extra money I have had to pay this year is going towards the wages of the man who will be employed to fan me on my journey.

Well I've finally bought my ticket as well - £22.50 for the return which I think is similar to what I paid last year. But given a day return from London to Woking is £18 or so I think that's not a bad price at all

Kaz, I arrive and leave at the same times as you (arrive 10h45 on Tuesday / leave 14h30 on Wednesday)

I haven't planned what time I am leaving on the Wednesday but was intending on going at around 2pmish. I will have to look what time the trains home are.

Edited to say - mine leave Birmingham at 3 minutes passed the hour. So I have the choice of 14.03 or 15.03. I might try for the 14.03 so I am home before the girls get home.
