Employers who do not pay min wage named and shamed.

Twenty five of them, all small or medium sized businesses, and fewer than 100 workers affected.

It is a start, but will employers who do not pay a living wage, meaning that their workers rely on benefits top-ups to their wages, also be named and shamed? Probably not, as many of them will be national or local government departments as well as some big names in industry.

And will companies that pay little or no tax be named, shamed and forced, by law, to do so? I will not be holding my breath.

People like Vodaphone, Starbucks, Amazon etc who dodge their tax are an absolute disgrace.

I wonder if it is because a lot of big companies donate to political parties, one way or another, that they never get named and shamed?

I've just looked and the minimum is £6.31ph, for age 21 and over (apprentices are different).

There happened to be a poster in Lidl yesterday advertising for staff, and it said starting wages are between £6.90 and £8.10 depending on experience, and a pay rise is automatic after a qualifying period.
We've heard a few of the staff there saying what a good company it is to work for, I must admit it surprised me
