If I do manage to attend, I will bring a bottle of champagne maybe 2 given to me for Christmas. The meet is on the anniversary of my darlings death , a week after my birthday, three days before Yasmin's wedding. June is not an easy month. I could do with cheering up!

I have bought my train tickets! Only £8.50 return so that's not bad at all. I was expecting it to be a lot more.

According to some distance calculator website, it's 72 miles from Milton Keynes to Birmingham, and 159 from here.
Only a bit more than twice as far, but 10 times the price :?
Doesn't matter as the 3 hours sitting in a train is pretty much out of the question, just don't understand it.

Nightmare Di, the system does seem very arbitrary on pricing

I know you would find the long journey difficult anyway ( :( ) but with the pricing I know that when I went to Ely on the train a couple of summers ago, for my sister's OU graduation, I was having trouble finding an affordable ticket between Gloucester and Ely, until Mick tried doing it by buying separate tickets for each leg of the journey (I had two changes) and suddenly it was half the price  Madness as I was doing exactly the same journey, on the same trains................
