Ally I am surprised you dont have Facetime like we do so that you can see your Mum everytime you call plus its free.
I wouldnt be without mine as my eldest daughter lives way down south and this way we see one another at least once a day. I know your parents would need an Ipad but in this day and age most pensioners are cyber savvy and tbh its not rocket science if I can do it.

I don't think my mum would want to be seen every time I rang her..I speak to her every day and it works for us.

my brother /sil have a laptop
why i dont know because they cant/wont learn how to use it
and they have sky broadband
so they text me i never use my mobile only if im out and need a taxi
and morrisons tesco and iceland have free taxi phone
today i looked at my phone have a happy xmas /new year messages on it

Afternoon all, it looked like rain earlier but is brightening up now, so we might go for a stroll when himself has finished watching footie. Spent a lot of time this morning scrolling through the professional photos that were taken of us, Miss Osc and her family in early December to try and choose the ones we want. Narrowed it down to 31, with 12 to be chosen Just had lunch and will probably do a bit of ironing later on, otherwise no major plans for the day.

Ally, I hope your Mum improves, and also hoping that Millie is once more on the mend. Have a good day everyone

Ally my parents were the same - not at all interested in computers, or mobile phones even xxxx

Mick and I have had a lovely day - we walked into town, then down to the Docks for lunch, then back through town and a lovely mooch in Waterstones, then walked home. A good 5, maybe 6 miles all told, and it really blew away the cobwebs

Now we've just taken down the decs and I'm having a cuppa and ten minutes on here before I hoover and dust to put it all back to normal The room looks huge!

Quite honestly I think its a great shame that older people dont just try and take that one small step to learning the basics of a computer. I have taught my very unwilling technophobe of a husband the basics. Being unable to get out and about and having a fear of the phone as he is so deaf I told him some home truths about how his inability to cope might take away what freedom he still enjoys if I were to die first. By knowing how he can order his food, bank online , order his medication, leave messages for his doctor,download books and most importantly of all keep in touch with the rest of the family, it was then his reluctance faced up to reality. He now has an Ipad which is even simpler infact secretly I think he is enjoying it. In our village there are people who will take on an older person as a pupil and teach them in their own homes which I think is wonderful and proving so popular.

My parents are an example of this..fair play to you for learning..but it's not for everyone.
