For the day-trippers where we meet is not so much of a problem - arrive, have drinks and a meal, and leave.

For those of us who have to overnight it is a bit more of a problem, not much, but it's there. If we are to get a deal through group bookings we need to decide on a few hotels, then pick one, and we need room numbers. We could all do our own thing, and that's OK, but if we want to keep costs down....

I have virtually made my mind up already.

It looks as though the weekend of Sat the 22nd of June might be the date, as is the area - near the Cathedral. That sort of leaves two Premier Inns on Waterloo St and the Moathouse on Colmore Row.

I don't mind ringing round and haggling over prices, but we will need room numbers, asap, and we need confirmed date(s).

Ibis said April, to be safe, I suppose the others would be thinking of a similar timescale.

One word of warning. The ICC (Cricket) final is at Edgbaston on Sunday the 23rd. It could make rooms scarce unless booked in advance.

I can say now, I won't be able to do Saturday 22nd June as Luke is home that weekend. I could do the following one though if anyone else is happy to change it.

Might not the following weekend ie the 29th be better then? Weekends of large sporting events tend to get very very crowded, not to say rowdy, in cities - I know how Gloucester gets when a big rugby match is on :?

I would love to go, and my mind is whirling as to how to get there. But I'm only 5% certain that i will make it. :(

It is a long way for me to come, and alot of money. And a long time away from the children, meaning alot of holidays that hubby would have to take. :? It is at least a 2 week trip for me, anything less is just silly, (jet lagg, travel time etc) and I don't like the idea of bring a 2 and 3 year old on a plane for a 21 hour flight. I suppose I could drug them....

And I have friends in Birmingham I would love to go and see......

Sigh....
Everything happens for a reason
