Luggage

Postby Diflower » 25 Apr 2014, 15:51

Didn't want this to get lost in the daily thread ;) :)

How do you go about having just hand luggage these days?
Not having been as frequent a traveller for the past few years, when we do go abroad I have to check and double-check all the regulations.
But aren't there still restrictions on what you can and can't have in hand luggage??

it's usually a size and weight limit. If you have no check in luggage then I think you're allowed a bit more weight.

As for the contents quite a few things you aren't allowed such as the usual flammables, explosives, knives, etc :o  etc.

When it comes to liquids no more than 100ml for any single item (you can't have a 200ml bottle that's 1/2 full the max bottle size is 100ml) and all items have to fit into just one of those plastic bags, about 15 x 20cm.

No, I really don't think I could Kaz, not for a whole 2 weeks :D
But I was wondering more about how you could, since I thought I remembered some things had to go in hold luggage.
Thanks WM, that's saved me searching for it :D

Plus, having measured my faithful use-for-everything sports bag, it doesn't fit with Ryanair's spec, so have today ordered us 2 'made-to-measure' cabin luggage bags from amazon. So I was wondering just how much I could get in them - you're allowed 10kg in each ;)
Which led me to wonder what sort of stuff I should put in those, as opposed to the suitcases.

Meriad I knew what size & weight we're allowed, it was what could go in them I was a bit lost on :)

And see, I always take a knife on holiday -honest! - blunt knives drive me mad. And corkscrew ;)
And presumably things like little sharp scissors would be banned too - always in with my little first aid kit.

I'm going to read that link very carefully tomorrow morning and make notes :D
Then once our new cabin bags arrive I'm going to have a go, to see if I could ;) :D

I'd already half-decided to buy cheapo beach towels once we get there :)

Don't bother with beach towels, we have them. Don't bother with washing worries, I have a washing machine :D That time of year, it will take an hour or less to dry. If yoiu wnt to wash stuff, go for the apta washing powder, use it all the time, cheap, but good.

Sharp knife? The local chinese shop. under 2 euros.

Anything else, shout :D

Oh, and a lot of wines from the supermarkets now, are either rubber tops or screw top - depends how much you want to spend.
