He is now having a helmet. Mr Shell is not happy, he thinks with two to one staffing he shouldn't need it. But he obviously does and I am not prepared to risk any more injury to him

Oh dear what a worry, poor lad. Loving thoughts coming to you all.xxxx

Thank you all and thank you Loz. In my heart I would love to have him home Frank, but it is not feasible, if it was he would still be living here. He has extremely challenging behaviour at times, and can be very aggressive. I can't handle him on my own, and no way could we both give up work. Plus I need to work, it keeps me sane. He also doesn't sleep until 4 in the morning several nights a week.

At the moment we are having him home every weekend, because that is the only time I feel he is completely safe. But we follow him, we never turn our backs or take our eyes of him, can you imagine what that would be like 24/7?

We just need to get him moved into his bungalow that is decorated and furnished for him and get brilliant carers in that we know and trust

Shell, you know that I do not have to imagine it: I lived it with William. I am sorry, and I do offer my apologies for my post. I was just shutting down and saw your post and wanted to reply. I meant no harm and certainly did not itend to upset you, or anyone, but looking back it did not come across as intended.

I know that you love Luke and really do want the best for him, but the helmet idea did not sit well with my thinking any more than leg-irons were the solution for my brother. I just thought that there might be another way............ even if only temporary.

To Loz. Shell would not mind you jumping in and neither did I. I value what you said and do agree with nearly all of it. It's just that when you have lived through what Shell, Tim and Luke are going through some of your (my) opinions can sound harsh. William was on four full grains of pheno-barb to control his seizures, or Grand Mal epileptic fits, as we knew them. We never knew when or for how long the attacks would last, so we did the 24/7 shifts during those times. Sorry, can't say much more..... it's too raw a subject.

I'll bow out. xxx

(((((((((((((((Frank))))))))))))) I'm sure it is raw. I have never been in the position you or Shell have had to face, so my words were only what I knew shell was feeling. We have been good friends for quite a few years.
I guess it is just about doing what you (one) can, with love. Each situation must be different and I guess each parent finds their own way.

Absolutely! We had such a terribly negative prognosis with H when his special needs were assessed, aged three. He wouldn't talk, walk or be toilet trained we were told :( He confounded them all and is a wonderful 14 year old, playing footie in the local league and taking GCSEs. We got a miracle, I just wish everyone could be as lucky :( (((Shell)))) ((((Frank)))) xxxxxx

Ton what a sweet offer, bless your heart :) xxxxxxx
