I know that when I used to take Christmas and Easter casual shopfloor staff on in my old job, everything had to be done properly even though they were usually still at school and just used to work for a week or so in the holidays.

Funny you should say that Saundra

He owed me money because he had a new iPad for his birthday which was partly a gift from us, plus his birthday money from other people and £80 that he'd saved. He gave me the £80 yesterday...but he held back £20 of it to go into Birmingham and I found myself feeling sorry for him so also gave him £7 to cover buses to and from the station and his train fare

He does have his own bank account but it's under my control and I'm reluctant to give him access to it because it's money that's been saved for him since he was a baby, for a time when he'll need it and I don't want him knowing how much is in there, it'll come as a nice surprise one day.

We opened post office savings bonds for the twins when they were born Jo and never told them - they got a lovely surprise on their 18th!
