The new ones are dreadful aren't they?!
We have some energy saving ones in our house which can only be bought online, they have three prongs on the bayonet rather than the usual two and last time I looked they were around £10-£12 each

I remember the builders saying that they were required by law to put in a number of light fittings which could only be used for energy saving bulbs.
We got around it though, whenever one has blown John's replaced the whole light fitting with a normal one that'll take a two pronged bulb
