And now I've booked our summer holiday.

Postby debih » 28 Dec 2012, 17:06

Woo hoo. Haven't I had a productive (and expensive) day.

We have decided to go to Cornwall this year and although I almost booked somewhere completely different to where we usually stay the draw of St Agnes was just too much. But I have found another cottage and it is pretty cheap compared to most!

I have just spoken to the lady that owns it and we have booked it for either 2nd August or 3rd August for one week. She told me that it is her home and she just lets it out for Easter and the summer holidays and she moves out (I didn't ask where to). We are the first people to book so had the pick of the weeks and although we were going to go for the 17th she said that the carnival took place on 3rd so we have opted for that weekend. She hasn't decided yet if she is doing Friday to Friday or Saturday to Saturday (hence it being a start date of either 2nd or 3rd) - she is waiting to see what other requests she gets, which is fine by us. We always set off in the early hours to get there by 10am and she says the carnival parade doesn't start until 2pm so if she does decide to do Saturday to Saturday she will make sure we can get in early to at least drop all our stuff off.

This is the cottage

The only real downside of it is that the girls will have to share a bed but they can cope with that and we will take one of our inflatable beds with us just in case they do find it a pain in the bum (but I don't think they will care particularly - they go to bed at about the same time as us on holiday anyway now).

I'm so pleased we are going back to Cornwall - we love it there. And we know exactly where the cottage is and love the area. There is a fabulous tapas bar just over the road from it - lovely food, amazing wine and the girls will be pleased as there is free wi-fi so they will be able to play on their ipods.

I am going mad - someone needs to restrain me. I am on the verge of booking our October half term holiday too. We will be going to the Lakes again and I just can't decide between 3 cottages.

This one - http://www.cottages4you.co.uk/cottages/ ... 26-10-2013

The one we have been to for the last couple of years - we all love that one. It has bags of room, big garden for Millie, park just over the road for the girls, shop and good pubs in the village, as well as a take away pizza place and the beach just 10 minutes drive down the road.

Or this one - http://www.cottages4you.co.uk/cottages/ ... 26-10-2013

Views look good but not sure about the area.

Or finally - this one http://www.cottages4you.co.uk/cottages/ ... 26-10-2013

Nowhere near a beach but it has a pool and a jacuzzi!

Mind you - this one looks pretty nice too. http://www.cottages4you.co.uk/cottages/ ... 26-10-2013

And there is horse riding near by so the girls and I could have a ride out.

Decisions, decisions - I think I might make Mick decide!

On looks alone, I'd go with the last one.

But as I'm over here and you're over there, with kiddlywinks, you go for what you're happy with xx

and thoroughly enjoy yourself :P :P :P :P

I do quite fancy being close to Windermere.

Just think of all that money I could spend in here

My daughter lives in Windsor and oh look, just down the road, there was Lakeland shop  Actually even Grumpy was impressed with it :D

Looks lovely Debbie! I've reserved the cottage we go to in Cornwall - - actually, I'd reserved it for next year before we'd been this year. The letting agents are very good, they put a reservation on it but you don't have to pay the deposit until Jan/Feb time so if you change your mind in that time you don't lose any money.

This year it's booked for 2 adults, 2 children...and a dog ;) We left him with John's Mom last year and when we came home said never again...

Forgot to say Ton, my cousin lives in Windsor too, I've not been to her house yet but her Mom, my aunty, has mentioned that Lakeland is just down the road from her! Small world!
