Woo hoo - I've ordered the kitchen

Postby debih » 28 Dec 2012, 14:29

I just rang Magnet and placed the order.

We are going for this one

http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?q=magnet ... 0,s:0,i:88

I'm so pleased we waited until the sales. When we first looked at the price back in October we were quoted just under £4500. We went back yesterday to see them and made a couple of changes - we are no longer having the larder units as I'm having my baking/bread making marble top instead (although I might order a wall unit to go above it at a later date) and yesterday we decided not to have the corner pull out unit things. We were unsure as to whether or not they would actually fit in one corner and the salesman said that he wouldn't have them anyway as they are prone to break and it means you can't get as much stuff in your cupboards. We can always order them at a later date if we want them.

And the total price ended up being £2000. :P :P :P :P :P

It's not coming until 5th February as we still have some bits and pieces to do - the door and window need stripping down and re glossing and Mick needs to fit the extractor hood (easier said than done as it needs to go up the chimney which means I can't reach the switches for it so he is going to have to adapt it so that I can) and bring the oven in (although I am inclined to wait until after the kitchen is fitted for that as I really don't want to use James until I have my lovely new kitchen).

I wanted to pay extra (don't know how much extra as I wasn't allowed to ask) to have their fitters fit it but Mick is insistent he will do it himself (the cupboards are all ready built so at least he doesn't have to erect flat packs) as he says "they won't do it properly". So I know it is going to take ages to be installed but I am hopeful that I might have a proper kitchen for my birthday on 19th.

Once the kitchen units are in we can get the flooring down and decide what sort of radiator we are having - it is only a small wall space so do we go for a normal radiator or a fancy pants one. And then I can get all my stuff in.

And I should have saved up enough money to buy my all singing all dancing Kenwood Chef by then - I don't see the point of getting it before as a) I will have nowhere to store it and b) I will have nowhere to use it!

I am very excited.

:P :P :P :P :P :D :D :D :D :D :D :P :P :P :P :P :P

That looks lovely Debih - really pleased for you :P :P :P

And they are easy to fit, we had a Magnets kitchen which Grumpy fitted The cost was quite a lot, so you can splurge out on other things that you would have spent on the fitting :P :P

That looks lovely Debbie! It's a classic style, very like the Ikea one we had when we extended at our old house nearly 8 years ago, so you'll not regret going with this look.
We were at a party a few weeks ago and the hosts had a glossy white kitchen and it was very "now" but for how long? And it felt so cold and clinical.
