Rum Babas

Postby roseangel » 28 Dec 2012, 14:05

Yesterday I made Paul Hollywood's rum babas. They were delicious but too big (even for me). I was surprised how light they were. I've never eaten a rum baba before and expected them to be heavy and syrupy but they weren't at all. They did take a long time though so not something to make on a whim.

Bet they were delicious as they are very rich yeast buns drenched in enough rum you could easily fail the Breath Test after eating one. My Polish Grandmother used to make her version soaked in fruit vodka and all of us grandchildren loved them especially as we were allowed a thimble of Avocaat to go with them. None of us knew we were taking alcohol - we thought we were eating wet doughnuts and custard ;)
