Some vibes for my mom... UPDATE

Postby meriad » 21 Jan 2014, 09:15

she's having her hip replacement operation today. She went into hospital yesterday and her op is scheduled for today at about noon (their time).

We had a long chat on Sunday and she's really very upbeat about it all which is good. I think she's looking forward to the (hopefully) big change in quality of life as she's been in quite a lot of pain for too long now. She'd been putting off the visit to the doctor as she always though it wasn't all that bad but when she eventually went - after much nagging from us kids - even the doctor said she should have come to him sooner! She's usually quite active, walking or cycling into town but this last year has been quite restrictive for her because of the hip so it'll be nice once it's all done for her to get that fitter lifestyle back.

This sounds just how it has been for my Aunty Rose Ria. She's recovering really well from her op and I'm sure your dear mom will do the same.

Sending lots of vibes for her {{{{{{{{{Ria's mom}}}}}}}}}}}}} and hugs for you, as it is hard being far away when loved ones are poorly ((((((((((((((((((((((((((Ria))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Thanks all. My brother Frank - who lives in the same town - is under VERY strict instructions to let me know the moment he hears from our aunt (my mom's twin) as my aunt will be the first person to be told.

Kaz it's quite odd really because I was worried that mom would be on her own quite a bit and I was trying to figure out my leave so I could go over for bit to keep her company during the day, but she more or less told me not to worry because she'll be too busy as so many people have already said they'll be visiting and then once she's in the rehab she's got all the exercise programmes and plans on meeting new people and won't have time really!   And once she's back home my sister, who lives in south Germany will be going up for a few days to see how mom is getting on; and depending on how things go then I may or may not fly over to help as well - but I suspect that the various aunts, my brother and moms' friends will all be offering help as well. If I don't go there, then I think, depending on how she's doing, I may see if she's up for a visit to the UK at some point.

My sister (82 yrs old) had this operation a few months ago, and is getting on fine.
She even went to the USA for Christmas and had no problems.

I'm sending some vibes for your mom.
