Good Morning New Year's Day!

Postby JoM » 01 Jan 2014, 07:31

Happy New Year and good morning all!

I'm up early to make sure that Tom got off on his paper round, seeing as he didn't get in until gone 1.30am. I thought the shop might open a little later today but it seems not! I'm heading back to bed with my Kindle for half an hour, my only plans for today are to take the tree down (never did get around to putting one up in the downstairs living room) and us all watching Alpha Papa which Tom got for Christmas :) and no doubt there'll be a couple of dog walks too.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning Jo and to everyone. :)

A good night was had by all last night/this morning! :P :P

It's 9.30am and Jacob and Conor are still in Benalmadena partying! 8-) 8-)

The sun is splitting the trees and it's lovely and warm so after my cuppa I'm off for a good long run in the woods.

Footy today. :x

Will wait and see what my slave man makes for dinner tonight.

Enjoy the day. :) :)

Good morning, JoM and Ally, and a happy new year to you and everyone else on Vocal Voices.

I was up early, too, as Prince must have his constitutional morning walk.
(Came back soaking wet) We both feel better now after our breakfasts.
(Mrs A is having a lie-in this morning).

Not much on our programme for today. Just a quiet day together.

Hope all my friends here are feeling well and are not suffering from too bad a hangover.

Morning everyone

it's a lovely sunny morning - but eerily quiet outside

The fireworks went on for quite a while at midnight, so what with that noise, the darking bogs  and Grumpy snoring, I was awake for a while

I'll drag him out for a walk later, down to the beach and let him have his first beer of the year

Hope you all have a lovely first day of january xx

Good Morning everyone and a very Happy New Year to us all :D :D :D

Well we cracked open some wine and stayed up to see the New Year in - the dogs gave up and went to sleep though :? Luckily not too many fireworks, probably as it was belting down with rain all night and still is

Having a quiet day today, then dinner this evening at my MIL's - have a lovely first day of 2014 everyone :D xxxxx

Morning all :)
Yet another dark, very wet one here, am really fed up with it.

A good time was had last night in the end. The pheasant was lovely, and I made a rather scrummy pudding too - amaretti biscuits (both soft and crunchy), a shot of espresso, rum, chocolate mousse :D Neither of us ever want a pud straight after dinner, I think it was about 10.30 when we had that!
We'd chilled some Champagne and cava, but instead started with the Bloody Marys we didn't have on Boxing day, then had the nice bottle of red :)
Music of various types, a couple of games of Trivial pursuit, and Big Ben and the fireworks. Oh and the free firework display that's a regular feature, one of the big houses on the main road - we get a brilliant view of it from the road at the front. They had it a bit early, about 10, no doubt because of the weather which got worse again after that.

A nice long walk would be just the job, but it's blowing a gale and hammering down, so I shall shove Bb and MInnie out on their own

Oooooh, Sherlock tonight :) :x

Have a good day all

Morning all :)

Well I didn't quite make it to see the New Year in  . Had dinner at Karl and Nadine's and left there just after 9 and had a relaxing evening at home and in bed at 11. The fireworks did kick off at midnight which did wake me so a quick check to make sure the cats were all OK and then back to sleep which also means that today will be a nice functional day, not one where you usually have no energy to do anything.

Today will be a HW day including taking down the tree :( (which next year is going to be put up earlier than this year, because once I added some decorations I really liked it and don't feel that I was home enough to enjoy it) and general pottering about.

The weather is rather dull, grey and wet - but thankfully not as windy as I was expecting and I hope it stays that way

Enjoy the day everyone whatever it is you're up to

Our tree will be up until the weekend or even Monday, which is Twelfth Night I think ;) Unless I get sick of it before that

I usually take my tree down on Epiphany, ie 6 January; glass of wine or port in hand, some snacks and a last listen to Christmas music.... but this year it unfortunately has to be earlier as my brother and his new girlfriend are coming over from Germany on Friday evening to drop off Tristan (his son) and there just isn't enough space in the lounge for 2 people to sleep and the tree and the furniture.
