Just another night as far as we are concerned.....might cook us a meal as Jen is working so there'll only be us two. But as over Christmas, dogs don't know it's a special time and they'll still need walking/feeding, but T might make it 6am rather than 5 :D So bedtime is usually about 10 or earlier, depends how tough a day he has had.

We have celebrated NYE in the past - we have stayed in York for a couple of nights, and another time we booked into a local hotel where we had full use of the facilities, a three course evening meal plus dance - that was great! We've left it too late this year though...

We are having Lewis on Jan 1st overnight :)

We've almost always had a party for just the two of us - get nicely dressed for our 'date' at 6pm, plan a nice meal, have some cava or champagne.
But the last few years we've also gone along to the elderly neighbours for the early evening; just S for the last couple...and now she'd died as well. It's a bit sad, although they were both certainly a very good age, we used to go for part of Christmas evening as well, we'll miss it.
Anyway, as far as we know we're having our usual party for two, although haven't decided on a meal yet. As with Christmas, getting into it is taking a while :)

We are going for a nice family meal on the evening of New Year's Day - Mick's mum has invited us, as his brother and wife are up again :)

Me too but we will be having a quieter one this year.

We used to, when we lived in London, go to friends who always had a party then the next day we would all meet up for a long walk around Bushy Park in SW London then all back to our house for soup and crusty bread and cheeses and cold meats and mulled wine and champagne etc etc etc but since we sold that house and moved to Dorset, our old crowd up there are all doing different things this year. Not that we would be there for it anyway so we are not missing out.

This year it will be a wander out to the end of our pier along with all the neighbours with a few bottles of bubbly then back home to bed. Have to return Mother in law and my daughter to London on the 1st as daughter is back at work on the 2nd. From there we are heading straight to France for a ten days :D :D

That all sounds lovely molly :D :D

I have had some riotous NYEs in my time - one year I got so very ill on crème de menthe frappes that now I can't even look at a bottle of the stuff

We will be out. Girls and Millie will be at my mums.

Some years we go to a friends party, some years we go to the pub. This year is a pub year.

We will go to a friends for drinks before we walk down to the pub, which will be busy and later will wander to our friends hotel to meet up with our closest friends who all drink in there to see the new year in. Mel, the owner, is doing nibbles.

It'll be a late one!!

Lie in on NYD though then off to my mum and dads for dinner around 2pm.

We love New Year, when the children were younger and all at home we tended to have a family party night. As they got older we'd go to friends. It was more difficult when mother lived with us, then it was just the three of us. As her dementia advanced often rather depressing.

Since she's been in care we've booked somewhere nice as a special treat. This year we'll be here http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/united-kingdom/hilton-st-annes-manor-bracknell-BRASATW/about/index.html for a black tie dinner dance followed by fireworks at midnight. We stayed here two years ago, it's a lovely hotel and they are great at celebration do's. Really looking forward to it, this year has been quite tough at times and we'll be very happy to see 2014 :D :D :D
