Hope everything is back in working order by now Debih? not sure which would be worse for me - no hot water or heating... but I suspect it would be the no hot water bit.

Neither really to be honest. The hot water is a bigger pain than the heating but our lovely neighbour is away and has given us full use of her bathroom. So girls are both showered, Mick is away and I will go for a shower later when the girls go to the panto rehearsal.

For years we had a very spasmodic water supply. We would regularly get up and find that we had no water, or come home from work and find that it had been off at some point during the day. We kept bottles of water in the shed for emergencies.

Then they decided to replace the mains water pipes along our lane. What an absolute nightmare. Not only did we have no water every day (Mon to Fri) from 8.30 am until 4pm (9am to 12pm on Saturdays) they obviously had to dig the road up. Single track road & big hole in road means road closed. They used to close it from 9am to 3pm so that we could at least do the school run. And it took them SIX WHOLE WEEKS. Every single day for six weeks. No water. No vehicle access to your house. And because of the lack of access we had no post either - we had to collect it from the village post office every day!!!!

But it was worth it in the long run as we don't have problems with the water very often now. However, a few weeks ago we had a note through our doors telling us that they are assessing the mains electric cables and the road might need digging up for that - which will take about 6 weeks and will affect our electricity supply!!!

So just having water is a luxury!!!
