Ton my uncle and aunt up in a village in Yorkshire moved from what everyone else thought was the perfect house, to one exactly opposite and nowhere near as lovely - virtually the same money, so just the cost of moving.
The old house was very old, a beautiful cottage that they'd spent years on, getting it and the garden perfect. But their view was of the lovely garden - it sloped up at the back so they could see nothing beyond that. And the sun set the opposite way, across the road. They would take the dog out and stand watching it, saying, look what we're missing.
So when they got the chance they bought the rather uninspiring chalet-type house opposite. There's a long, beautiful front garden so they're well back from the road. And at the back, a thin bit of garden; then a big field, and beyond that a huge, wide open view that stretches for miles and miles.
And that's what they were happy to pay for, it's a fantastic moving picture show every single day
