Poor little thing. And poor you.

As Ria says, thank goodness you were there so that the cats owners at least know what happened and have had the chance to bury him.

Oh ((((((((((Ally)))))))))))) :( What a sad thing to happen, but you did a very kind thing and because of that the owners know what happened to their beloved pet. Not knowing is a terrible thing, as poor Gal would tell you! She looked and looked and looked for her poor old Mopsy and never did know what happened

I hope the nice cup of tea and a good cry made you feel better ((((((((((((((((((x))))))))))))))))))))

I agree with all the others and I am sure the owners are sad but extremely grateful they know.

My sis in law had a black and white cat Merlin. One day someone knocked at her door and said "I think Merlin has been knocked over and is lying by the side of the road. So she called for me and, Tim and we went with her to look. She started crying and stroking him and Tim went to get a box. I said to her 'are you sure that is Merlin? So she stopped crying and looked closer and said do you know I don't think it is? Then some people came to see what was going on and she said we thought this was my cat but now we don't think it is and sadly it was their cat. So Tim passed them the box and we beat a hasty retreat. Happy for us but sad for them

Our pets are a loving member of the family, and to lose them whatever their age leaves a big gap in our lives, the poor family will be devastated but so grateful you took it tenderly away from where it was lying when you found it.

Absolutely!! Ally you did the right thing - even though the owners will be heartbroken atm, it's better to know what happened to a beloved pet than not.....as Kaz said we never knew what became of Mopsy... but a young man rang me as they had found Tinker in similar circs to the ones you found yourself in (Tinker wore a collar with an ID disc as well as being chipped) - it was very very hard to go pick him up and bring him home, and then bury him....but at least we had that closure and could grieve. Mopsy just didn't come home, and I looked and looked for him every day for a year hoping he'd return and of course he never did :(

Be kind to yourself today xxx
