Sunday dinner

Postby debih » 29 Sep 2013, 16:05

It's nearly ready and I'm ravenous.

We are having roast beef, roast potatoes, yorkshire puds, cabbage, carrots and corn from the allotment.

And then an apple strudel for pudding.
Life begins at the end of your comfort zone!

We had roast potatoes and chicken thighs cooked with rosemary, fresh carrots, mixed frozen chunky veg (broccoli, cauli and peas) followed by homemade apple cake (Mick and Harry) or gluten-free apple crumble (me and Becks) with custard 8-)

We will have roast pork (hope the crackling works), roast pots, broccoli and carrots. We don't eat puds but will have wine :kick:

I roasted two chickens and we had them with loads of spicy home made wedges, crusty bread and lashings of salad.

Dessert was a strawberry cheesecake I made yesterday..and mum brought over loads of cakes. :D :D

We had the duck recipe - this one http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/1188 ... wine-sauce
With shallots added, plus the suggestion of new potatoes boiled then added before the sauce went in - really yummy, very easy, and one we shall definitely have again :)
Also had spinach, most cooked, some raw, which went very well with it.
Oh and discovered we had no redcurrant jelly so used blackcurrant jam, which was fine :)

We don't normally have pudding but had some free cooking apples and some puff pastry so have made an apple tart which we'll have with ice cream in a little while. If we do have pudding we like a rest in between ;)

We had a starter of meat rissoles, with a tomato cut into chunks, one lettuce leaf, and a sliver of avocado, (no dressing) followed by chicken curry and slightly burnt rice  and dessert was strawberries, ice cream and a slice of apple tart with something I couldn't distinguish on top.

We shared the bottle of red we'd taken up, which was that Dao one.
