Last night of the proms

Postby Diflower » 07 Sep 2013, 20:10

We've been listening to radio 2 proms in the park for the first half, it's been terrific :D
Just had the cast of 'Let It Be' who were fantastic - right now the whole crowd is still singing Hey Jude, a while after the performers left the stage :)

Nigel Kennedy is on his way from the Albert Hall to perform - then no doubt we'll put the Tv on for all the traditional bits :)
I first watched it when I was about 11. My Granny was staying, my parents were out and she put it on and explained it all to me. Not every year, but I've watched it ever since, love it :D

What a fabulous concert that was, such a varied programme and Nigel Kennedy was just brilliant. We sat and watched the whole lot and I feel so uplifted now by the wonderful music and the cheering that I just don't feel like sleep at all. I especially loved the Chichester Psalms because we did that in choir a few years ago and I absolutely loved it. That was definitely the best LNOProms ever without a doubt.

Loved it, and truly loved the swell of those thousands of people joined together by wonderful music and harmony..

A few years ago it got very OTT with the nationalistic stuff, but they have managed to rein that in and it's much the better for it.
I didn't see the psalms Rodo, as we had the park bit on the radio then.
Nigel Kennedy is incredible, I don't care what he looks like or talks like, he's a true genius and only his real self when he's playing.

The Guardian critic obviously liked it!!

I loved how they described Nigel Kennedy as being dressed like "a chic dustman"
