Thankfully Tom's school didn't plan their prom too well, everything was last minute with regard to dates and venue, and they clashed with another school that night so limos were in short supply and Tom's group had to get a cab. They priced limos up before the date was decided and it worked out at around £50 each - the cab was £8 each ;)

I am glad I am not alone in my views, I am aware that I am critical and "a moaner" but at my age if it is justified and I am allowed to be.. I thought the height of vulgarity was when the mother booked a coach and horses to deliver her daughter to the Prom.. The falseness of what is thought up to stop teen-agers and children being taught the three R's, elocution, the last war, cookery carpentry etc that will stand them in good stead as adults they are fed this crap.. easy on the teachers, and easy on the pupils...

Proms at the end of year 11 at secondary school I can understand.... it's only a bit of a posher step up from the old school disco, and leaving school is a bit special.

"Graduating" from one year to the next, well that's just silly.

Yes that's my take on it too Frank - without the limos and helicopters though, preferably ;)
