Now i really am fed up!!

Postby lissie » 12 Dec 2012, 16:31

I have just been to the Doctor`s to have my ear syringed as i can`t hear very well in one ear.
The nurse was`nt very pleasant and very brusque :(
She tried for about 15 mins to clear the wax but said it would`nt budge.
She had one more try and managed to block my ear completely so i can`t hear
at all in that ear.
She said to put olive oil in twice a day and come back in a week.
Ofcourse when i tried to book they have no free appointments for next week :(
The earliest is the 22nd at 9am so until then i won`t be able to hear on that side.
Anyone got an ear trumpet :) :)
I wish i had`nt bothered and she got the neck of my jumper soaking wet :(

lissie :P .

Lissie, have you thought about Hopi Ear Candles?

Look them up and see if they might help.

My mum swears by the Hopi Ear Candles Lissie.

And my nan always swore by the warm olive oil thing.

Fingers crossed you get it sorted soon. Miserable nurse!

What a horrid nurse lissie

Mr.J had one ear almost blocked a couple of months ago. He was told to use Sodium Bicarbonate eardrops rather than just the olive oil ones as they clear it better. It does fizz a bit, but he said there's no discomfort. After 10 days as recommended he went back to have his ear syringed and they'd worked so well the wax was almost completely gone.

The method of choice when we were young was medicinal paraffin oil.

before bed a warm drop was put in and left for a few minutes then poured out again. A cotton wool stopper was used to keep the pillows clean. The same happened in the morning with the stopper in all day at school. Things cleared after a few days.

No nasty nurses involved. ;) :D

There really are some nasty people around - sorry you had to meet one of them Lissie, just when you needed help, not hinderance.

I'm trying to remember what we used to do - I think it was warm olive oil and leave it over night, but I may be wrong, sorry.

Hope it gets better on it's own, without having to see her again xxxx

I've just had my ears syringed this week - I have to have it done every six months.

When I book an appointment they always tell me to use olive oil for a week beforehand.

It seems you had poor service, Lissie.

Incidently, when I was a child my mother used to put drops of hydrogen peroxide in my ears
if they became waxed up. I mentioned this to the nurse but she said she had never heard of it.
You can't get it now though - for some reason.
