I have been watching the women's Euro 2013 finals and have been pretty shocked at some of the Neanderthal comments from male viewers. FCOL! It is a different game, it is not men's football and never will be.

The only way it is even remotely like men's football is in the way that England have performed, or not, but that's for another thread.

From the few occasions that I have seen women's football on TV, I would say that it looks like
a far better game. The managers of men's football teams could learn a lot from it - but they
won't, of course.

ps Watched France v England last night and we were TERRIBLE!
Poor passing, we couldn't keep the ball, no decent wing play and the only attacking option seemed to be a hopeful long ball from wide out near the halfway aimed in the general direction of the striker; and half the time we never got it in the same postcode! We got by on effort until our legs went.
If France had been a bit steadier they could have had six.

I think I might have worked it out.

It has to do with innate abilities. Most women can hit a note in one go. C = C, C, CCC, C, C.
Men can't. C = D sharp, E flat, D, C flat, E, D, C and maybe another C.

Most men have better spatial ability, they can 'imagine' where something should be and then put it there, or thereabouts. Women know what to do, but can't do it. Player A knows that player B wants the ball at position C.... but getting B and C in the same place at the same time is where it all goes wrong.

The first coach to get the psychologists to sort that out will have an unbeatable team.

Just resurrecting this thread to say I saw my second ladies football match a week ago last Saturday - the first was England v Japan, but this game was a Central Warwickshire Girls Under 18 Premier League fixture between Austrey Rangers Ladies U18 and The New Saints Ladies U18. I was there to see an U21 match but finished up watching this game, played on an adjacent pitch.

Now The New Saints - TNS - are a high-flying Welsh League club based in Oswestry, so quite what their Ladies U18 team is doing in a Central Warwickshire League is a moot point - but I have to say the gals - posh kit and names on shirts - looked a very talented bunch, winning 1-7. At least three of the TNS players are also listed in the full TNS Ladies side squad according to their website, and their No.15, Megan Haynes caught the eye as a very accomplished striker with some very silky, skilful moves. A budding future International there, I suspect .....
