Train fares!
I'm taking Tom into Birmingham on the 21st to a concert. It's a Sunday night so the latest train on our local line isn't running and we might not be out of the venue in time to get the last one. BTW two return tickets for the 40 minute train journey (stops at every station) cost £10.20. I hit on the idea of seeing if there was a train from New St through to Stafford instead and asking John very nicely to collect us (Stafford is 8 miles away). Yes there is but the cost of 2 single tickets, just for the journey home, would be £19.60 - for a 35 minute journey

A single to Seville..3 hours away..19 euros.

Ally, I'm taking Tom to London for the day on Monday and it's only cost £24 for returns for both of us to go there!

Our next door neighbours (those who are a little odd) are heavy smokers and always smoke outside whatever the weather, they've built a little wooden gazebo type thingummyjig to shelter under by the back door. Anyway, it's hot so we have to have all of the windows wide open and the smell of cigarette smoke comes into our house, and as well as the disgusting smell it also affects my allergies.

I said to John earlier that it defeats the object of them not smoking in the house when the smoke is going in through the windows but when I walked Billy I noticed that they don't have a single window open, front or back.
It was 25C at that time - even now, just before Midnight, we're boiling in here with all of the windows open so I dread to think what it's like in their house.

My German cousin who is coming to stay in a few weeks time, rang me to ask if they needed to bring their own coffee with them "In case you only drink tea"

Luckily I was able to tell her that coffee has recently reached the British Isles
