Condensation can be THE worst problem. It can lead to mould which can cause health problems.... and they might not be apparent for years.

I am so glad that you have discovered this early and that the roofers can fix it pronto.

Thanks WM - rang him this morning and am deferring having the work done till after Christmas - I was up in the loft yesterday afternoon and it was nowhere near as bad! I also spotted, in daylight, a couple of gaps on the bottom of the loft floor right in the corners so it looks like there IS some sort of ventilation, as well as a venting hose leading to a grill on the outside.

It will need sorting, but not as urgent as first thought.
