Shoes

Postby Weka » 18 May 2013, 04:56

Just been shopping with missey buying her new shoes. I've just bought my 3 year old (ok, she's 4 next week) size 13 shoes. That's a European size 31. Fgs I take a 39!!

It's taken me almost 5 hours to find sandshoes, gumboots and slippers that appeal to the preschooler in the size that a child of 6 to 8 would wear. She desperately wanted ladybugs, and flashy lights when she walked, not butterflies or flowers, and I had to talk her out of Spider-Man gumboots (although I could have handed them down  ) we got there in the end with most wishes fulfilled, even with aucklands appalling selection. (Every shop sells practically the same style or colours, and ALL girls clothing is pink with butterflies, bows or flowers)

Just how tall is this child going to be? She can stand up in the swimming pool where her lessons are already. I need to find a deeper pool for next term. Everyone else in the class needs holding as they are way too short.

I'm off for a lie down, I'm in mild shock. May need an application of wine. ;)

She's going to be 6ft Weka :D I can say that as Becky was exactly the same at Missy's age

Finding clothes and shoes was a problem as those that fitted were often not age-appropriate, and when she was about 6 or 7 and still wanting Barbie wellies or things with cute logos on I couldn't find them big enough to fit

B loves being tall though, it has never bothered her towering over her friends who strangely have tended to be little girls 8-)

She overtook me in height at about 11, and I'm nearly 5ft 7  She towers over Mick too, but not her dad who is 6ft 5 :)

Harry is tall for his age but not as tall for his age as B was........

The wine ally is going down just fab.

Kaz, I think you might be right. My grandfathers side of the family was very tall. My brother takes after them and is just on 6ft. I however a, to blessed with the tall gene, and while I'm not short, I'm th shortest in my family. Hubby's family is nt exactly tall at all, infact his grandmas side were famous for being short. I think Oliver takes after this size, he is still in the sized clothing for 1 year olds. And has barely grown in a year.

I'm only 165cm, which I think makes me 5ft 4 and something. Hopefully with the osteo working on my neck I might grow an inch?

That was my big problem today, was finding little girl patterns in her size. They all stopped 4 sizes before her size.
