So much for President Peacemaker!

Postby Workingman » 22 Jun 2025, 14:52

The world is a more unstable place today than it has been at any time since the Cold War.

Trump's unilateral and unprovoked bombing of sites in Iran has given the Iranians (and their allies) the excuses, if any were needed, to attack US assets and it people with whatever means they have anywhere and at any time of their choosing.

It's one thing to support an ally with sanctions and munitions, etc. and another to get militarily involved. Even a deranged Orange Man-Child should know that.

I couldn't agree more. Starmer's muted endorsement of the US actions doesn't help either. Remember that when the inevitable terror attacks start, here and in Europe.

Ah, the terror attacks!

We now enter a new phase. Iran has over 400kg of 60% enriched Uranium 235. These can be made into hundreds of what are known as "Dirty Bombs", they are no bigger than a shoebox so easy to smuggle anywhere, They are basically U235 wrapped around a conventional explosive such as dynamite, TNT or plastic explosives. Once detonated it atomises and disperses the U235 over an unknown area and renders it uninhabitable - U235 emits alpha and beta particles as well as gamma rays. The decontamination of such an area could take years and be hugely expensive. The psychological effects on populations is unknown.

Imagine a few going off in Wall St, or near the Houses of Parliament, Rome, Paris... you get the drift.

And let's not forget the Straits of Hormuz. Some 30% of the world's oil flows through it. It is only 30 miles wide but the shipping channel, in and out, is only just over a mile wide. All of it is within the range of land based Iranian artillery. Closing Hormuz would have global consequences, as was the case with the Red Sea.

These attacks are meant to remind Iran that the use or these types of bombs will only bring one response. The total nuclear eradication of Iran and the Iranian people. They also confirm that there is absolutely nothing in the Iranian arsenal which can stop that happening.

If we do nothing or appear weak, then it is a given that these weapons will eventually be used against us in the mistaken belief that we will do nothing in response.

What happened was a reminder to the regime in Iran that their rhetoric about "devastating consequences" is not theirs to bring. But it is theirs to experience if they push just one single step too far.

Personally I would have supported a limited Nuclear attack on these facilities with the ground zero being far enough under ground to limit or completely remove fallout.

Just so the message was loud and clear. They may be tolerated firing thousands of drones at Israel who can mostly protect themselves. One and I do mean ONE nuclear attack and they, as a country, are gone.
There are 10 types of people in the world:
Those who understand Binary and those who do not.
