A quick update

Postby Suff » 05 Feb 2025, 20:59

We have been doing a lot of work in the house over the winter.

Main work has been in the rooms which are being converted to the master bedroom, master en suite, two dressing rooms within those two (you have to walk through Mrs S' dressing room to get to the en suite), plus the hall and staircase to our library and media room.

Once the en suite is cleaned (the grouting was just finished today), I'll take some photo's and post them.

Feeling I should add some of the work we are doing to the convesation.

If Mrs S ever cleans up the mountains of paperwork she has loaded the library with I'll take some photos. It is a Library/Media room with all the important things like a small bar and a fridge. It took about 9 months of our lives to do and we're quite happy with it.

The other thing that happened at the back end of last year is we had to lower the roof outside the media room (over our new master bedroom), as the roof beam was about 1/3 up the window we fitted. When I lifted the roof off Mrs S looked at the floored attic space (as it had been), then said "I can have a room here". So now we are in possession of a "Jigsaw room", almost 3m by 3m. Nothing like a change in plans when you are all set to get a roof replaced.

I'll do some photo's of that but Mrs S wants to do a resin top on her surface and the resin is in the post. Maybe a bit later.

Never a dull day. I am still laying new flooring and starting to stud and insulate walls in the master bedroom so that will be a while before we get photo's.

Just to give you a feel for where the photo's are coming from I created a floor plan of each floor. This is not fully comprehensive there is a balcony outside the kitchen, stairs down, a gym and hot tub room off the courtyard below the kitchen balcony and alongside some of hte Utility. Then there is a double cottage out in thesecond courtyard.

This is two houses side by side. There are two doors joining the houses. One from the dining room to the living room and one from the utility to the garage. Also the left hand house is on 4 levels and the right hand one is only on three.

Mrs S seems to have no interest in getting the en-suite cleaned up and I have no time. So it's a bit messy post grouting, the radiators have to be plumbed in and I need some new diamond drills to get the pipes in (burned two out drilling the holes for the white radiator), plus the towel rack is still pending, so here it is for the moment.

And, yes, I used AI to remove me from the mirror.

That looks amazing Suff!

I have a sewing/craft room. It sounds a bit indulgent but it just keeps everything tidy and out of the way, and room which would’ve been unused has a purpose.

I've repurposed Mick's old study (first floor double bedroom) into a dressing room - which sounds very posh but in actuality means a rail of the clothes I can't stuff into my poor wardrobe, a sofa bed, and some storage boxes :P
