Good morning Thursday

Postby Ally » 14 Nov 2024, 06:58

Good morning.

After storm Dana yesterday we have sunshine and in the 20s for the next week.
Wednesday was beautiful, madness yesterday and back to normal today. Unbelievable.

I've come down this morning and as is usual open the front door which stays open all day. What is different is I've had to open all the windows too. We had to shut them all yesterday which we never normally do.

We were warned it was coming at 10am and that's exactly what happened.
Our mayor was very forward thinking and announced on Tuesday all schools were to be closed. The shops and bars followed suit.
What was scary was everyone had a siren go off on their mobile phones on the Tuesday night. We now know they were sent to everyone between 10 and 11pm. It was a government alert. This klaxon wail  announcing a red alert.

Jacob had to go into Malaga yesterday as their new bathroom was being finished and he was telling us everything was closed in preparation for the storm.

I believe other places did the same but one can't ever know the extent of what's coming.

Malaga centre was hit as were some resorts.
We had seven hours of rain which would've normally been very welcome but it was coming down in sheets with nowhere to go. We've never seen anything like it.
We're inland and on an upwards plain so apart from some light damage in the town centre, we've been incredibly lucky.

I do think the world's weather has gone mad.

I'll go for my normal walk this morning, food shopping after that then we're meeting up with friends at Gambrinus for lunch and a weather based chinwag.

TV tonight.

Have a great day.

* Sorry for the long GM post...I should've done a separate one.

Morning Ally, morning everyone

Grey and cold and very dry  Bit misty and a cold day at 19C.

Glad you're okay over there Ally xx Very scary when it comes down like that. The drains just can't cope and what with all the rubbish people chuck down them, no wonder they overflow.

We're under a yellow warning for rain, but no idea if we'll get any. Seems to miss us, most of the time.

Cooking again today. Curry for Saturday and about 100 samosas, for the freezer.

A day to stay in, I think

Hope B enjoyed her first day Kaz x

Have a good day everyone, whatever you're doing xx

Good morning Ally and anybody else who is up.

It was 15Cwhenn I got up and misty, The sun is coming out and most of the mist has gone.

Ally< I wondered if the floods had affeted you. Itmust be terrible when villages and towns are completely wrecked.
What is going to happen to all the damaged cars?

I am going to do some ironing. Willalso cut back some plants in the garden. I do this every year and they grow again in the Spring.

Have a good day everybody.

If this was done in seven hours imagine the damage if it'd gone on for longer or even days like it does in some countries.

I've had so many messages asking if we're ok. How lovely. xx

Jan she really likes it there, everyone really friendly and the job is nothing she can’t do standing on her head :D Glad you’re getting some rain, hopefully not too much! xx

Raining here, but Tesco with D this morning, and then Pilates for me tonight. It gets harder, turning out on dark nights to exercise is a draughty church hall :?

Have a good day everyone xxx

Morning all, back to damp and dreary again  Usual Thursday, dance practice this morning then Kellie will be here this afternoon. She has a ballet exam this morning and isn’t going to school, so she will stay in Miss Osc’s office after the exam until we get home, then walk up to us. Just got to tidy around before we go.

Ally I was thinking about you too and glad to hear all is well.

Morning all :D

Rain overnight, but sunny now.

Ally so glad to hear you are well, what a nightmare for so many people.
Kaz glad Becky enjoyed her first day.

We had a successful shopping trip yesterday, new lights bought plus a few other bits. We then spent the afternoon cleaning out some of the kitchen cupboards, oh what fun

Hope you all have a good day xx
