Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney on the same stage, along with Ian Gilmore and Ringo on the drums.

Heaven.

Apart from PM's singing and guitar playing ;)

After searching across three Counties for nearly a month, (Dorset / Somerset / Wiltshire), I actually managed to track down a good old-fashioned stripey green marrow for sale in the veg rack at a cafe / farm shop about 5 miles away from home.

Bore it in triumph to the checkout. 8-)
The young teenage lad manning the till said, after a pause, "Do you know how much it is?" :?:
I replied, "It said 'Price from £1.15', you have to weigh it" :D
"Oh", he said, looking at the computerised till. "Err .... what is it?" :?
A bit dumbfounded, I said "It's a marrow ......"
He said "I can't find it on the display" :|
So I had a look. I couldn't find it either. So we compromised and called it a squash.
He charged me £2.85.

Seriously, have we brought up a whole generation not knowing what a marrow is? Blinkin' 'eck :o

That's nothing Os; last time I was in a Farm shop the girl at the till had to inspect the coins individually to see what they were worth. I suppose if you never use cash..?

Anyway, I saw a great headline on the TV news this morning.
"British team to count penguins in Antarctica".

You can just see it now.

"One, two, three, four.. keep still you little sods.. five, six.. Bill, Bill - have I counted that one? They all look the same to me.. it's no good, I'll have to start again.. One, two,.."

I’m still cursing the marrow I took to the harvest festival at the age of 8.
My Mom made up a harvest box which included a huge marrow and it was so heavy, and as was traditional we had to carry our contributions from school to the church which was half a mile away. I was practically on my knees by the end of the walk.

Jo

Saundra, we tend to have ours either as an accompanyment to mince like you, or as a main dish with a cheese topping.
