Boris and Nige .....

There's a lot of chatter at the moment about the Tory rebels planning to replace The Grey Man as leader with the late, lamented Boris, and the possibility of Nige rejoining the Cons to form a dream ticket at the next election (well, they have to blunt the Reform Party somehow).

I know we have a wide range of political opinions on here, from the Soft Left (most of you) to the gobblin', swivel-eyed Loony Hard Right (me ), but putting our personal beliefs aside just for a moment, can you see this move appealing to the general voters out there, especially those with an intrinsic suspicion of the greasy Starmer and his ilk?

There was a once in a lifetime situation in which trust had gone out of the window with the Establishement which saw Boris both become PM and win an election with a truly massive majority.

This was slowly eroded by spite, hatred, outright lies (not from Boris), and Boris's way of handling stuff which also included truth issues, otherwise known as lies.

My view is that boat has sailed for now.

That being said. The whole Palestinian situation is causing Labour and Starmer particularly, a real rectal polyp. Starmer knows what the real situation is over there, the entire Parliament does. They know they cannot allow Hamas to get away with what it did and they also know that a large proportion of the Arabic world wants the Moslem Brotherhood (a.k.a Hamas and ISIS), crushed into the sand and burned to a crisp.

Unfortunately for Starmer the ingrained anti semitism that Corbyn leveraged so well in the UK labour movement is absolutely rabid about him not whipping the party to vote for a cease fire.

This has damaged him really badly and the party. I predict many votes will go to Lib Dems which would have gone to Labour and it is now too close to the election to mend sufficiently and the whole Gaza thing is going to drag on past Christmas and then the aftermath will go on for years.

Meanwhile Sunak has found a pair of balls and is trying to stitch them on to see if it will help his election chances. Giving the Tories a stronger chance than I would have given them even 3 months ago.

At the same time I don't know if you are following that jumped up racist in charge of Scotland right now but I can tell you that Scots being told they are racist when nearly 96% of them are ethnic white and are represented by less than 96% ethnic white in their parliament and government are Seriously Pissed. In fact every time Yousaf posts something on X about Gaza or racism he gets thoroughly hammered.

This is likely to make changes at the general election. Labour who also put a Moslem non ethnic as leader of their Scottish party fell to third place in the Scottish elections behind the Tories. This has never happened in the Scottish parliament since it was created.

All leading to a, potential, stronger showing in Scotland for the Tories than expected.

It is going to take a while for things to really sort themselves out but rocking the boat that hard whilst things are changing so rapidly is unlikely to happen.

Fartage founded Reform and is its Honorary President. Neither he nor the Johnson are MPs so that all looks like a side show.

The Tories are bobbing about around 20+ points behind Labour and things do not look to be getting any better.

As for Sunak. His popularity rating has plummeted with 51% of us having an unfavourable view of him. Recent combined favourability ratings put Sunak at minus 28 and the Conservative Party minus 33.

Later today, 6pm, the ERG are holding a meeting to decide what to do about the Rwanda Bill saying it needs scrapping, but Number 10 is threatening to call an early election if they vote against the legislation in the Commons on Tuesday.

So much for the 'strong and stable' united party.

Farage and Johnson - are they your dream team Frank?

Tbh this just sounds like paper talk to me.

The Conservative MP's knifed Johnson in the back less than eighteen months since - and they think he's going to ride back to their rescue? I think not.
Similarly the prospect of Farage joining (or being allowed to join) the conservative party is a non-starter, escpecially at this moment in time.

Because the Conservatives are going to lose the next election, it's just a question of how badly. So who would jump onto a sinking ship? It makes no sense.

My MP is Labour and has been for many years. This may change as the old Labour supporters,such as miners have gone. Also the Labour council are destroying the town centre.

The market hall which was only built in 1988 has ben demolished and a hotel.bowling alley, and other estabi;lshments are being built inits place.
On the outside hoarding round the site it says" Preserving our heritage" amongst other signs.
