My grandson is being christened today and in telling some friends about it I mentioned that I hoped the water would be warm when he was dunked in the font. They laughed at me and said that did not happen. :D What is the font for then, there might just as well be a cup of water on a table if it is just for putting on the baby`s head. :)

I think it depends on which religion it is.

Some use total immersion but in the C of E the priest just dips his fingers in the water
and dabs it on the child's forehead. (At least, that's what they used to do).

But you knew that, didn't you ? :lol:
