What is Braverman playing at?

Postby Workingman » 10 Nov 2023, 14:10

She cannot really be as dumb or as mad as a hatter as she is making out: can she? It takes some special skills to make Truss and Dorries look good.

It all looks like a plot to unseat Sunhat and become opposition leader after the next GE. Either that or she is trying to bring back the right wingers who have deserted the Cons for Reform, some 7% of the electorate. or maybe it is to deflect from what is being said in the Covid inquiry.

She is an incendiary and divisive figure who might succeed in one or all, but in doing so she is in danger of losing many Tory centrists in the process. Can she be left in post or will Sunhat, Hunt, and others, be forced to get rid?

If they get rid of her for saying what a lot of their voters think, then they will lose even more voters than they hope to gain by getting rid of her.

It is not just right wingers who think that the Met police are being biased.

Maybe she shoots from the hip rather than being all mealy-mouthed and nice. It all boils down to what the electorate want and expect from their leaders. My other half was a serving police officer when one of the conditions of joining the police service was impartiality. It was considered an essential part of the job. Now many of them dance and cavort while they are on duty and take the knee, hardly impartial.

On another note, I was watching a news report which stated e-mails had been sent out to veterans travelling into London over the weekend advising that they should not wear their medals or anything to identify themselves as veterans. They were told to put on their medals once they had arrived. So now people who have served their country, instead of being respected for their sacrifice, are to hide the fact that they were once serving soldiers for fear of being attacked.

If you look at the polls then those on both sides share sympathy equally and it is greater than those supporting either Israel or the Palestinians, who are also equal in their own right. The 'don't knows' are the second biggest group just behind the first group mentioned.

When it comes to the parade exactly half of us think it should be banned yet this article explains the legal position as to why neither Braverman nor The Met can ban it as things stand.

When I was in the RAF we were banned from travelling to and from home on public transport wearing uniform, and we were 'advised' not to use our military kit bags either, even when we were in civvies. Doing so made us potential targets for the likes of the IRA, Baader-Meinhof, Red Army Faction etc. Some things never change.

Another poll, just out, shows:

22% to keep her
49% to sack her
29% Don't know

For the Tories it's 4:3 to keep / sack her. Hardly a ringing endorsement from Con voters.

She's toast. Will it be Monday or after the Supreme Court decision on Rwanda on Wednesday?

Then comes a reshuffle of more second-raters after Bojo got rid of all those with talent.

Only for her own failing political career as leader of the next third party in opposition.

Most of us couldn't care less about her or her ambitions.

I've given up expecting anything to make sense at the moment.

The Tories are toast at the next election and I've been saying this for over a year. Nothing to do with Braverman or Sunak.

Right now nobody deserves my vote. Lucky I'm not voting.

Yes, The Johnson did the damage. He killed the Tories. Good man.
